I qualified in 1997 and became a partner in 2003. I have significant experience in handling tribunal and EAT cases and advising on all aspects of employment law. I am very “hands on” with my advice. I deliver my advice with a practical and commercial approach.
In a case reported in the legal press (First Choice Homes (Oldham) Limited v Riley [2008] UKEAT 0051_08_3004) I successfully defended an equal pay claim on the basis of a novel preliminary argument that the ET had no jurisdiction to hear the claim. The claim and appeal against my client both failed.
In the 2015 edition of The Legal 500 Fiona was described as being "extremely knowledgeable and thorough; she crafts the best solution for the client", and has been recommended as “technically very able” in the latest edition of Legal 500. She’s a regular speaker on employment related topics and a member of the Industrial Law Society, the Employment Law Association and the Manchester Employment Tribunal User Group.
